the wrath of milenyo
We received an advisory Wednesday, 27 September on the upcoming typhoon expected to have a direct hit on Manila. I took it as one of those usual advisories we have whenever weather disturbances occur in the Metro. Wednesday's night news already said of the damage it left in the Bicol region. The government has already suspended classes in ALL levels for Thursday (Hmp! di ba ginawang wednesday, wala ako class ng thursday tlga!) Consequently, some work was also suspended based on the discretion of private companies.
It was not the usual typhoon the Manilenos experience. I think the usual expectation whenever there is a typhoon, is the amount of rainfall it brings. But this time, though there were rains, the wind made the more damage.
For some reason, i was out during the direct hit of Milenyo... i had a prime seat during his passage and it made its presence felt. The peak of its hit was felt between 11:00 to around 2:00PM. after the pounding, there was an eerie silence and what was left were the remnants of Milenyo's wrath.
The first photo was that of a flooded street of the Metro which literally looked like a river. (pardon the blurred picture, i just took it with my celfone camera inside a vehicle.) The second photo was that of a big tree uprooted and was lying/blocking the middle of a street. Now, i can just imagine the beating this tree received from Milenyo to cause it to be uprooted, and i tell you the tree was huge!
Milenyo is one of the swiftest typhoon to hit Manila, and though it was swift, it was one of the most destructive leaving 61 people dead (and still counting), ripping and flying off roofs, toppling down posts and power lines and a major black out in Luzon area.
Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned... hmmm... this time, hell hath no fury like a Milenyo....
