aero marathon

i learned about the aero marathon contest in the office through forwarded emails. I didn't have any interest in joining because i don't enjoy aero activities that much. i prefer sweating it out in the badminton court. However, Miss Charie, the Fitness Club Program was very patient in following up my participation in the aero marathon. I had some hesitations to join because i knew we had dance rehearsals at the same time the marathon was on. But with some reshuffling of rehearsal sched, i was free to join.

There were four 20-minute segments - the low impact, kick boxing (the one i enjoyed the most!) Latin Dance, high impact and belly-dancing (though this was not included in the judging). There was a 2 two-minute break in between segments. If a participant fails to return in time for the next segment, then he/she will be disqualified from the competition.

The judges used the following criteria for judging: Endurance - 30%, Form & Execution -30%, Ability to Follow - 20%, Enthusiasm- 10%, Overall Impact- 10% totalling to 100% (ah, galing ko sa math noh?!)

I woke up at 7am and hurriedly prepared because i had to pick up Rocel before going to ADB. The marathon starts at 9:00AM. We reached ADB at around 8:30. I wanted to grab a bite before the marathon because i had nothing on my tummy when i left the house. I had a toasted bread with butter and a C2 for my energizer. As i was preparing for the aero, i went through my bag and i couldn't find my socks!!!!! ( wah!) it was early, so the mall was still close, and eventhough it was open, i had no time to buy because the marathon was going to start in a couple of minutes. so i told myself, i just have to finish this thing without socks on! (great!!!!)

the most exhausting part was the high impact, not only because it was really high impact, but also because i had to exert effort to learn the routine. most of the people there were members of the fitness club, so they were quite familiar with the steps, and i had no idea about them.

after 80 minutes of sweat, we were done! Yes! i survived my first aero marathon! and guess what? i won two awards! finishing the aermarathon was really rewarding in itself, because it was a true test of endurance and will. the two awards were actually bonus (naks! showbiz) I was first awarded Miss Body Beautiful (bwahaha! parang typo error, dapat ata Mr. Body Beautiful) and then i was first runner up in the aero marathon (sayang!) The prices included one year membership in the fitness club (yipee!)(for the first runner up price) and 1 quarter free membership (yipee again)(for the body beautiful award). Now i will have enough reason to go the gym, because i am going there for free!

Thanks to the organizers of this aeromarathon.... til next year ;0)

my trophy as first runner up and my medal for the body beautiful ;0)
